Empower Bowen Therapy

• Bowen Therapy is a very safe,subtle – and highly effective – soft tissue therapy that can be used to address discomfort, provide pain relief and improve body movement for a wide range of conditions.

• Bowen Therapy works by gentle manipulation of the fascia, muscles and tendons.

• Bowen Therapy can be done through light clothing. The practitioner will ask questions related to the nature of your concern/injury and activities that may have contributed to the presenting condition.

• Most treatments are completed whilst the client is lying down on a massage table but, can also be done whilst seated. The treatment consists of series of small groups of moves with waiting periods of anywhere between 2 – 5minutes in between.

• Bowen Therapy is very relaxing for the recipient and activates the body’s para-sympathetic nervous system (normally activated during sleep) which puts the body into a calm state and aids the repair and healing process.

• A treatment session normally takes anywhere from 30 – 60 minutes (Initial consultation approx. 1hr). It may feel like not much is actually being done, but the results can be astounding with benefits commonly felt after the first session!

• Bowen is not an ongoing therapy. In most cases, the recipient can expect substantial relief after just the first session and significant resolution or recovery within three sessions. However, chronic or long-standing conditions or repeat injury may require additional treatments. Some clients have periodic Bowen therapy sessions to maintain body integrity and balance and to prevent the onset of problems.
