The decade between fifty and sixty is mainly uncharted territory, a phase of life that is largely ignored. Yet for many women it’s a time of turbulent change as they face the loss of youthfulness, menopause, complex issues like relationship challenges, health concerns, aging parents, loss of loved ones, teenage children, children moving out (or, maybe worse, they never move out), redundancy and retirement concerns. These are some of the daily challenges women in their fifties are facing on top of trying to juggle the daily responsibilities of family, home, work and careers.
Studies show
Middle aged women are suffering from depression and/or anxiety more than any other social group
The decline in mental health for fifty plus is greater than any other age
As women in our fifties we are challenged with all of the above. In addition we have also neglected ourselves for so many years because of our children, husband, career and so many other responsibilities. We have been under constant pressure to juggle all our responsibilities and have put everybody and everything else first. With the years we have forgotten who we are and what we want and we have lost our identity. Embracing Your Fifties is about helping 50+ women to re-create themselves, re-connect with them selves and self-empowerment.
