More about Day of Respect

We are proud that Australia is a nation of many cultures, originating with the Aboriginals who inhabited the land when Captain Cook discovered Australia. From the First Fleet’s arrival with many nationalities our nation has successfully absorbed the many forced migrations due to wars and other conflicts around the world. With the percentage of our foreign-born citizens growing each year we need to focus more than ever on everybody being one, from many cultures, diverse, but equal and all living in harmony.

UPDATE NUMBER 3, 18 SEPTEMBER 2012

Purpose: Building UNITY in the CommUNITY.

We are Non-political, non-religious, non-racial, ALL inclusive Day of Respect! March 2013.

Well SO much has happened since the last update that we have been blown away by the generosity of the people of not only the Mighty Macleay, but the Mid North Coast and from all over this great country.

This last few weeks has shown us the beautiful caring heart of people in the Macleay Valley and other parts of this wonderful country, that is why we are naming the event, “Celebrate the HEART of the MACLEAY” which mirrors the fair dinkum heart of our Nation.

Our goal of raising $25,000 (minimum) for the Zone Program, the Kempsey District Hospital and CareFlight - Mobile Clinical Training program. Other community organisations are also invited to be part of the event to help raise funds for their organisations.

The Zone Program is run by Kempsey District Hospital, Zone works with children to keep them in school, set goals and overcome challenges they have faced in life, challenging behaviours and prevent mental illness in adulthood. When our goal of $25,000 is achieved or exceeded it will mean that $10,000 (at least) will fund the Zone Program for 12 months a whole YEAR!!! A fantastic investment in our children’s and nation’s future.

HOT OFF THE PRESSES – CareFlight are not only bringing their Helicopter Simulator but also the Medical Simulator – A state of the art medical teaching facility for the teaching of emergency medicine in country areas so that doctors don’t have to leave their local hospital to receive the best emergency medical training. Kempsey was the first town that this was used to train emergency workers. AWESOME NEWS!!!
