Cold Reading Series - Melbourne

WHAT IS THE COLD READING SERIES?

The Cold Reading Series is a place for writers —both new and established— to have their screenplays read aloud in front of a live audience.
Brought to Melbourne from Vancouver in 2010, CRS has developed into a meeting place for all those involved in film and theatre.
The idea is that you will hear your words read in front of a live audience; you'll see how they react, you'll answer their questions at the end and you'll get a better understanding of what works and what doesn't, with the possibility of meeting directors, producers and actors who might like to take your project further with you.

We're seeking scripts ranging from 10-20 pages (eg: full length, one acts, excerpts, etc) Feature-length scripts are accepted, however they will be read in 20 page sections over several months.

HOW TO SUBMIT A SCRIPT:

To submit a script please email a .pdf to crsmelbourne@gmail.com. Include a title page with your name, address, phone number and email address on it. Please let us know the format of the script (as in short film, feature, play...) and a short summary. Also we will require a character break down so casting can occur on the night before the audience arrives.

Please note: We prefer that writers not read their own scripts. Writers may bring/choose actors to read specific roles, however it is important to let us know in advance so that we don't cast those roles.

ACTORS:

Casting is done on the night, so please arrive half an hour before the designated starting time. No auditioning or headshots are required, if you turn up and we have the right role for you on the night then you're on, and otherwise there's always the next time!
