Ritual and particularly a marriage ceremony in a very real sense is the gauge by which we measure our humanity and our time on earth. They give us the opportunity to celebrate what we love, to acknowledge what has changed, what we have lost, what we have gained and recognise and honour those things that stand beyond the consdtraints of time and space.
