Chef Farideh Knopf (Fay) was born in Teheran Iran. She acquired her intuition and early skills from her mother and grandmother. Coming to Australia as a refugee in 1979 and marrying in 1982, Fay began a career in professional cooking. A highlight was her time as 2nd chef in traditional but innovative Italian restaurant under a well-respected head chef.
Fay began her own restaurant Zafron in Brisbane's New Farm which ran successfully for eight years. Featuring a nouveau fusion of Persian and Euro-style dishes, the restaurant was highly regarded and ranked in the top 5 on the trip advisor review site for four years being number one on many occasions.
Fay has a natural instinct for flavour and balance and cuts no corners to offer her guests beautifully flavoursome dishes.
