Carnarvon PCYC

The Carnarvon PCYC was established in 1987 and was purchased outright in 1993 after major fundraising activities took place and through the generosity of the WA Lotteries Commission, Department of Sport and Recreation and Local Government.
Over the years the Carnarvon PCYC has provided youth and the wider community with the traditional PCYC activities such as Gymnastics, Basketball, Badminton ,Air Rifles, Discos and Boxing however in addition to these the club has also provided :

• Driver Education Program
• Rangers
• Soccer
• Indoor Cricket
• Karate
• Dancing
• Self Defence classes
• Boxercise
• Boot camp
• Thai Boxing
• Darts
• Outdoor Adventure
• Skating and Ripstix
• Drum Beat and Other Musical Sessions
• Boot scooting
• Arts and Crafts
• Table Tennis
• Tiny Tots Gym / Play gym
• Community Movie Days

Over the past 20 years a priority for the club has been to work in close partnerships with the police, courts and corrective services in working with Prolific Priority Offending youth and in doing so steering them away from criminal and or anti social behaviour and violence.


Such programs have included:

• Riding in the right direct program
• Fix It Surf It
• Girls for Life program
• Indigenous Surfing Program
• Bigurra Fishing Program
• Adventure Base Program
• Horticulture Program
• Protective Behaviours Programs
• Boxing for the right reasons program
• BMX Repair Program


In addition to these activities a major focus of the club has been to provide the school holiday program. This program has been a highlight for the club and has been home to in excess of 1000 youth predominantly indigenous youth over the holiday break.

All of the activities, projects and programs have been made possible due to the ongoing working partnerships in place with the Shire of Carnarvon, Gascoyne Development Commission, Department of Sport and Recreation, Department of Child Protection, Corrective Services, The WA Office of Crime Prevention, Lottery west and the National Community Crime Prevention Fund.

The club is a not for profit organisation and as such relies heavily on community support and financial assistance from various sources and departments in order to continue to provide a high level of sporting and recreational activities and opportunities for youth and the wider community.
