Caffe e biscotti

Truly one of Melbourne's institutions, Caffe e Biscotti is known to the locals as "C & B" and is an extraordinary story unique to Melbourne's legendary cafe & bar culture.

Known originally among the locals as the "Doorway cafe", this establishment was just a converted service entrance from which a bench was rolled out into the lane and a coffee machine mounted on top.

People would enjoy coffee standing around the 300 year old wooden bar before going to work.

Primarily a take away concept, the success of this store grew to include the hand made fairy shop next door and eventually also incorporated the restaurant initially located directly behind it.

A success story that truly stands the test of time, today C & B sits around 80 customers with casual, bar, intimate & fine positioning, it has developed into a full restaurant with live music Thursday through Sunday evenings.

In early 2009 C&B underwent some refurbishment to continue its timely traditions with the introduction of new lighting, extra banquette seating, with lovely alfresco decor & bar stools, a widened very spacious bar & impressive floor to ceiling wine rack and display.

C&B retains its iconic 300 year old wooden front lane bar top that is now one of the time honoured traditions to take in Melbourne's lane way culture and feel and is and will be a very important part of early melbourne bar culture and the Little Collins precinct.
