We are the Lee family. And I'm Brandon.

Our family is the 5 of us – my wife, Amelia, and me … and our 3 kids, Griffin, Zoe and Indigo.

Our extended family here is the usual suspects of chickens, ducks, cattle and anything else that decides to drop in.

In 2014, we moved here from Brisbane chasing a different life for all of us, especially our kids. Our dream for 9 years was to create a family-centred life, in beautiful natural surroundings. Our property is called Big Sky Dreaming – because that’s what it is for us … our big sky (ultimate) dream.

My personal interest in the breed of miniature Galloways came about when I first saw them. With their shaggy coats and teddy-bear-like appearance, I knew our kids would love them. As a relatively new breeder, the ease at which they calve, their non-specific grazing (they’re not fussy about what grass they eat) and their docile nature, are all benefits in helping me learn the ropes. Our three children have become quite comfortable feeding, patting and brushing “the girls” as we fondly call them … well, all except our bull calf “Bulliboi”.

We have been fortunate to obtain blood line rarely seen in this country, where semen from outstanding bulls from Scotland have been used with early bloodlines brought here to Australia. We have also bought Royal Show standard cattle to add to the breeding program. Our goal is to use these naturally docile cattle to create first class animals that are family friendly.

Currently our herd consists of various coloured cows: duns, blacks and whites-with-black-points. They were originally 2 different herds sourced from 2 different studs located in NSW. With names like “Harlem”, “Honi”, “Hannah”, “Juneau” and “Bulliboi”, we have certainly come to love and know these ‘herd’ animals like members of our family. Each has a different appearance, different characteristics and unique personality.
