Brewarrina Central School is located in Brewarrrina, a small rural town in far western New South Wales. The school draws its enrolment from the immediate township and settlement. A small number of children travel by bus from Gongolgon (50 kilometres) and Weilmoringle (100kms) each day. The majority of the student population (97%) identifies as Aboriginal. The school is part of the Connected Community strategy and has developed a close working relationship with the AECG and SRG. As a result of community involvement within the school there has been a strong emphasis on Aboriginal education and cultural awareness. Brewarrina Central School offers a broad and innovative curriculum, including Big Picture and the Clontarf Academy. The school caters for children from Kindergarten to Year 12 and provides a comprehensive education for all students. Enduring personalised learning, building school capacity and continuing to develop community partnerships for learning have been identified as the key areas for the school.
