The original course designed by acclaimed architect and golfer Eric Apperly has been enhanced in recent years by designer Ross Watson. The well established and secluded bushland layout offers a challenge to all levels of golfing skill and the course is recognised as one of the best in Sydney and Australia.
The fairways are surfaced with immaculate Santa-Ana couch which, combined with the relatively level topography, make Avondale an enjoyable walking course. Greens are surfaced with G2 Bentgrass.
The Par 71 course measures 6,059 metres from the black tees.
A significant water supply, via an on-site dam, combined with a modern irrigation system, provides the ability tomaximise turf condition whilst responsibly managing this precious resource. To provide the best playing surfaces possible Avondale has invested significantly in state of the art course maintenance facilities and equipment. Environmental custodianship is a key focus and the course stewardship embraces the award winning E-Par environmental management systems.
